Vexim, set up in 2006 as a spin-off from Teknimed, a French leader in orthopedic cements, is developing innovative technologies for the surgical treatment of vertebral compression fractures (VCFs). The company has produced a medical device, a vertebral implant, which should counter limitations of available surgical options, and effectively restore vertebral height. The market for VCF is estimated at $1 billion, with over 200,000 cases per annum and growing at 20% a year.
